King Lear

King Lear
By William Shakespeare
The Shakespeare Festival at Tulane
Directed by Jim Fitzmorris

This production of King Lear was set in New Orleans in the early 1960’s. Lear was a politician, rather than a king. The style of the show resembled a classic mobster film.

These effects are the progression of the storm.  Many of the thunder and lightning strikes are separate cues that were layered on top of these storms at specific moments for dramatic emphasis.

This is the sound of a party happening in the other room that is heard when the door opens.

This strange effect underscores Edgars transformation. The director wanted something reminiscent of carnival music.

The sound of a transistor radio broadcast searching for Edgar.

The sound of a record crackle that was used for one of the trasitions between scenes.

The sound of cars driving up and opening fire, instead of the traditional battle that happens in Act V, Scene 2.
