Sound Design:

My sound design for Kathleen McKinley’s direction of A Midsummer Night’s Dream was created to support her concept of a creepy forest inhabited by vampire-like fairies that exists in a contemporary time-period.

I created a multitude of “magical” sounds:

Puck’s Spell

Oberon’s Spell

The Love Potion Spell

Titania’s Love Potion Spell

The sound of Oberon making himself invisible, followed by the sound of Titania making herself visible:

An invisible Oberon touches Helena:

And then stops Demitrius in his tracks:

An imaginary, magical flower being thrown back and forth through the air:

Titania “zaps” Bottom:

Oberon magically “grabs” Puck and reels him back in:

Puck “zaps” the ass off Bottom’s head:

Magic sound between Titania and Oberon:

I also chose many pieces of music to underscore different moments in the play.  Here is a selection of music that was used to underscore a variety of moments in the play:

Music selections for dances:

The initial “fairy” dance:

Bottom dances for Titania:

Titania’s dance with Bottom while under a spell:

For another part of the play, I recorded the voices of the actors playing Lysander and Demitrius to play back when the fairy Puck “spoke” using their voices:
